‘If stone could speak, it would tell the tale of the chisel and how it shapes history, how it restores the gentle smile inspired by the memory of a Parisian night in the winter of 2000, of the hand that carved the Book of Love, a love that we came to know in the neighbourhood of Montmartre. It was a time when letters were the guardians of the evening and reeds were the masters of the moon. It was a time when the River Seine drove us to the pinnacle of madness. We debated the poetry of Al Mutanabi and demonstrated it the dreams of Gaston Bachelard leaving it out to dry on the washing lines of Picasso’s house in the alleyways of the Latin Quarter.’
